Continual Professional Development
Staff from St. Mary's were involved in training and information regarding asthma. The session provided by an Asthma expert from ‘Asthma UK' enabled all staff to recognise what the triggers to asthma are; how to safely supervise a pupil whilst administering their inhaler; and what to do when their inhaler does not provide the relief that is needed. All staff found the session very informative. A very useful website for parents to find out more information is www.asthma.org.uk
All parents are reminded to keep the school informed about any changes in their child's medication. All pupils who suffer from asthma should have a current ‘Administration of Medication' Parent/school contract filled out. Please contact the school secretary if you have not completed one of these before and your child is on long term prescribed medication.
