Green Fingered Pupils
17th Sep 2010
Pupils of St. Mary’s have found out that gardening is hard and dirty work. Under the direction of ‘Harty Culture’ expert Jonathon the children did a great harvest, tidy up and weeding of the raised beds and willow. Worms the ‘size of snakes’’ were found much to the disgust of the pupils but were reassured by Jonathon when he said it was a good sign of rich, fertile soil. The pupils planted winter cabbages, beetroot and lettuce to see us through the winter. The rhubarb and mint harvested will hopefully be turned into jam and perhaps a little drop of mint tea!
