On Monday 26th June, Hannah from Version1, a Belfast based global IT company, came to school to talk to the pupils about her job working within the digital industry. She gave them an insight into the business side of computing and an overview of how IT developers work as a team to manage their projects. Hannah inspired all the pupils and filled them with excitement about the possibilities of a future career in IT. All the pupils and staff expressed their thanks to Version1 for kindly supporting the school to purchase new iPads through the company’s Community First Initiative Programme. The new iPads will help all the pupils to develop the skills and knowledge they will need to grow in a digital world. Pupils from St. Mary’s have in addition been invited to Version1’s offices in Belfast at the beginning of the new term to experience how an IT company works on a daily basis, as well as engage in a Mindcraft workshop. St. Mary’s passed on their gratitude to Version1 for all their support and generosity and said how they were looking forward to maintaining the link that has been developed, in further projects.
