RSE Programme
The teaching of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) is mandatory for all pupils of compulsory school age.
All grant-aided schools are required to have an RSE policy that is based on consultation with parents and pupils.
The Board of Governors at St. Mary's have consulted on this policy and the comprehensive Flourish programme that the teachers will use in the classroom. The Governors are confident that it meets the needs of the pupils at St. Mary's P.S..
About RSE
The statutory curriculum for personal development and mutual understanding at primary level includes high level prescribed content for RSE at each key stage; this is the minimum entitlement that St Mary's will adhere to and that young people must legally receive.
St Mary's P.S. will use the 'Flourish Programme' to deliver RSE in their classrooms. The teachers will use a planned two year rolling programme to ensure the children will experience progressive and age suitable content and resources.
You will find a direct link to the resources below (pink link box). The Catholic Schools Trustee School Service have prescribed these resources for use in schools across Ireland.
The resources have been separated into year bands. You can access all of the resources and content that the teachers will be using.
In addition the RSE coordinator at St. Mary's P.S. has availed of two days training which was held by the Catholic Schools Trustee Service.
